Dr Jo Richards is fellowship trained in ocular immunology, inflammation and infection as well as cataract and anterior segment surgery. She has done further training in glaucoma surgery. Her private practice at Western Eye is as a cataract surgeon, general ophthalmologist and uveitis specialist. In her public role as a consultant at Royal Perth Hospital she supervises trainees learning complex cataract surgery as well as management of inflammatory eye diseases. She teaches the full range of professionals caring for the eye and, in particular, devotes her energy to promoting antimicrobial stewardship, insightful management of ocular inflammation and looking after the eye as part of a whole person. As an active RANZCO member, her roles have been in workforce, registrar selection, clinical conduct, clinical audit and education.
