Alissa Maillet
Professional Bio
Alissa Maillet is a Lecturer in Optometry and Vision Science at Deakin University. Alissa graduated with a Bachelor of Science from University of Waterloo, Canada in 2002 with Honours studies in the field of Biotechnology. She migrated to Australia in 2005 to study optometry at University of Melbourne, successfully gaining Bachelor of Optometry qualification with therapeutic endorsement in 2008. Alissa worked as clinical optometrist, specialising in contact lens fitting, until 2015 when she commenced work at Deakin University. Alissa has completed a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Learning & Teaching and a Fellowship with the Higher Education Academy. Alissa maintains clinical contact as a locum optometrist in the Geelong area and is one of the lead optometrists at the Deakin Collaborative Eye Care Clinic. Her research and teaching interests include dry eye disease, contact lenses, ocular therapeutics, and myopia management.
